About Bulkhead connectors

Plastic bulkhead connectors take a hose line through a tank or housing wall and are clamped from the opposite side. The group holds straight and elbow versions with male threads from M10x1 to M18x1.5 for hoses of 6 to 12 mm outside diameter. Operating pressure reaches 10 bar and goes down to -0.9 bar.

What matters when choosing

• Material PA, polypropylene (PP) or POM. PA is impact resistant, UV stabilised and withstands petrol, diesel, heating oil and alkalis, but it is not suitable for acids. PP resists almost all inorganic acids and bases, including at high concentration.
• Thread M10x1, M12x1, M14x1.5, M16x1, M16x1.5 or M18x1.5, always male. It fixes the diameter of the wall bore and has to suit the wall thickness.
• Hose size: for tube O.D. 6 to 12 mm and hose I.D. 4 to 9 mm. The clamping ring grips on the outside diameter, so check the tolerance of the hose.
• Operating pressure: the maximum of 10 bar refers to 20 °C. With PA the permitted pressure drops to 1 bar at 60 °C, with PP it is still 2.5 bar at 90 °C, and the figures are given on the item.
• Operating temperature: the lower limit is -20 to 5 °C depending on material, the upper limit 60 to 90 °C. The top of that range is covered by the PP versions.
