Bimetal thermometers sense temperature purely mechanically through a bimetal coil, so no power supply is required. The instruments listed here are built for horizontal reading, carry an 18 mm flange on the case and are installed without a thermowell, directly in the medium.
The range covers 66 versions with case sizes of 63 mm and 100 mm, stem lengths of 63, 100, 160 and 200 mm plus eight display ranges from -30 to +50 °C up to 0 to +250 °C. Scale division is 1, 2 or 5 K, depending on the span.
These instruments monitor flow and return temperatures in heating and hot water circuits, in chillers and chilled water systems as well as in ventilation and air conditioning plants. Spans up to 0 to +250 °C cover thermal oil, steam and process water lines, while spans from -30 to +50 °C serve refrigeration duties. Without a thermowell the stem sits directly in the medium, which gives short response times in water, oil, air and non-aggressive process media. Typical measuring points are buffer tanks, heat exchangers, compressor and compressed air circuits and vessels in plant engineering.
