Couplings and Disconnects
Seal and Repair Kits for Couplings
Seal and repair kits keep existing couplings in service: O-rings and back-up rings in the sealing seat, the valve spring, valve poppet, guide bush and locking balls. Wear does not occur on the body but on these parts, caused by every mating cycle, by particles in the circuit and by ageing of the elastomer. A kit costs a fraction of the coupling and can be fitted to the part in place. In a cooling circuit that is not to be drained, that is often the only practical route.
This category exists but does not yet hold any items. Seal and repair kits are tied to a series: one kit fits exactly one coupling size from one manufacturer, and there is no version that spans several series. The range will therefore be built up along the series already carried in this branch. Until then, please give us the manufacturer, series and body size of the coupling in question.

How to choose Seal and Repair Kits for Couplings
What matters when choosing: properties, comparison and typical applications.
Status of this category
Sealing materials in a water-glycol circuit
Suitability of the common elastomers and of PTFE
| Material | Water-glycol | Mineral oil | Note |
|---|---|---|---|
| EPDM | suitable, the usual material in a closed cooling circuit | not suitable, swells | never combine with mineral oil based additives in the same circuit |
| FKM | limited, restricted resistance in hot water | suitable | sensible where oil or chemicals are present, not a default for an IT circuit |
| NBR | limited, falling off as temperature rises | suitable | standard material in many pneumatic couplings, only conditionally suited to a cooling circuit |
| PTFE | suitable, very broad chemical resistance | suitable | used as a back-up and guide ring, rarely as an elastic seal |
| Silicone | limited | not suitable | more permeable than EPDM, uncommon in closed circuits |
Typical applications
- Repairing couplings with a dripping sealing seat after a long period in service
- Scheduled overhaul of disconnects that are mated frequently
- Changing elastomers after a change of coolant or inhibitor dosing
- Replacement after particle ingress has scored the sealing seat
- Spare part stock for series permanently installed in the rack
