Ball valves and shut-off valves
Butterfly valves
Butterfly valves for pipelines from DN 25 to DN 300 in wafer or lug design, supplied bare or with a pneumatic actuator (double-acting, spring-closing, spring-opening) or an electric actuator, optionally with battery safety return or a 0-10 V/4-20 mA positioner. Bodies are ductile iron GGG40, stainless steel or grey cast iron GG25, pressure ratings cover PN 10, PN 16 and PN 25, and 150 lbs versions suit flanges to ANSI B 16.5. For small lines, butterfly valves with female thread Rp 1/2 to Rp 4 are also available. Ball valves, process valves and check valves are listed in the neighbouring categories.

How to choose Butterfly valves
What matters when choosing: properties, comparison and typical applications.
Selection criteria
| Criterion | Options | What to check |
|---|---|---|
| Design | Lug type, wafer type, butterfly valve with female thread Rp 1/2 to Rp 4 | Wafer valves are clamped between the pipe flanges, lug valves are bolted through threaded lugs. |
| Operation | Pneumatic spring-closing, double-acting or spring-opening, electric, electric with battery safety return, with positioner or 140 seconds actuating time, bare shaft | Define the fail position: spring return for pneumatic, battery safety return for electric. |
| Nominal size | DN 25 to DN 300, wafer type also DN 32/40, ANSI 2-1/2" to 8" | Match nominal size and flange standard to the pipeline. |
| Pressure rating | PN 16, PN 25, PN 10, 150 lbs, threaded valves 0 - 16 bar | PN 25 is available for DN 50 to DN 150, PN 10 for DN 25 and DN 200 to DN 300. |
| Material | Body ductile iron GGG40, stainless steel, grey cast iron GG25, nickel-plated brass, disc stainless steel, GGG40 epoxy-coated, aluminium bronze | A designation such as GGG40/stainless steel/EPDM gives body, disc and seal. |
| Seals | EPDM, NBR, FKM, PTFE / EPDM on threaded valves | FKM is offered for PN 10 and PN 16. Check resistance to the medium in the data sheet. |
