Magnetic, Dirt and Microbubble Separators
Filtration and Loop Cleaning
Separators remove what a screen cannot hold back: magnetic debris, fine sludge and microbubbles. Free gas bubbles degrade heat transfer at the cold plate, collect at high points and make pumps cavitate, while magnetite from steel components settles in narrow channels. This category describes that function in the loop; the range itself is still being built up. At present it holds two Riegler water separators with push-fit connection for tubes of 22 mm and 28 mm outside diameter.
The two versions differ in material: POM for the 22 mm outside diameter, brass for 28 mm. POM is unrestricted in a water-glycol loop, the brass version only with a single-metal pairing. Magnetic, dirt and microbubble separators for the closed loop are not yet stocked; until then the strainers and side-stream filters in the neighbouring categories cover particle separation.
Operating principle of the four designs and their status in the range
| Design | What is separated | Operating principle | Status in the range |
|---|---|---|---|
| Magnetic separator | magnetic debris, magnetite | permanent magnet in the flow path | not yet stocked |
| Dirt separator | settled solids | calming chamber with collecting sump | not yet stocked |
| Microbubble separator | free and released air bubbles | flow calming with vent at the high point | not yet stocked |
| Water separator | entrained water | baffle with collecting chamber | 2 items, POM and brass |
- High point of the secondary loop, venting after filling
- Return line ahead of the circulation pump, protection against cavitation
- Loops with steel components where magnetite is produced
- Upstream of a micro filter stage to extend its service life
- Compressed air and flushing lines at the filling station
- Service carts with push-fit connection to 22 mm and 28 mm tube
