Level Measurement
Measurement, Monitoring and Leak Detection
Level in the expansion or storage vessel is the quietest but most telling variable in a closed cooling loop: it only falls when medium is lost. A slowly dropping level points to a leak long before pressure or temperature react. The category holds 16 level switches from Wika, entirely in 1.4571, with G 1/2" and G 1" screw-in threads and nominal lengths from 100 to 450 mm.
Guide tube length L3 is 50 mm above the nominal length on every type, giving 150 to 500 mm. The switching point can therefore be matched to the vessel height without modifying the vessel. As a float switch the design works without auxiliary power and without calibration, which suits it to common alarms and make-up release. Stainless steel 1.4571 is unrestricted in a water-glycol loop, and the same holds for vessels made of PE or PP.
