HW group - Remote monitoring for data centres, server rooms and plant rooms
HW group s.r.o. in Prague has been developing and manufacturing a complete remote monitoring system since 2003: IP devices, more than 70 sensors and detectors and the SensDesk portal. The devices send limit alarms by e-mail, SMS or SNMP trap and connect to existing monitoring systems through open interfaces.
In the data centre HW group complements our liquid cooling range. The WLD system detects escaping conductive liquid along the full length of the sensing cable at coolant distribution units, quick couplings and pipework, while Perseus and STE2 watch temperature, humidity, doors and power in the rack and the room.

Which base unit?
STE2 R2 and STE2 PLUS monitor a room with two sensor ports and two digital inputs. STE2 PLUS adds SNMPv3 and up to 15 sensor values. Perseus is built for several racks or many signals: Perseus 140 in a metal housing with 4 sensor ports, Perseus 150 for 19" racks with 8 sensor ports and 16 digital inputs. Models 145 and 155 add an LTE backup.
Plain unit or set?
Plain units come without power adapter and sensors. Tset packages include a power adapter and temperature sensor, the Perseus 150 Rack Tset also brings 19" brackets, WLD sensing cable and a door contact.
Planning leak detection
- WLD2 PoE monitors 4 zones and reports via LAN or Wi-Fi, WLD-ECHO works without a network, with audible alarm and relay.
- Every zone starts with a connecting cable AB with terminator, followed by sensing cable and, where needed, non-sensing extensions up to 185 m.
- Type A is the rugged standard cable, type B is thinner, dries faster and can be reused. Both types fit the same connector.
Perseus devices have their own WLD zone, so rack monitoring and leak detection can run on one device.

Frequently asked questions about HW group
What does HW group make?
HW group s.r.o. in Prague makes devices, sensors and software for remote monitoring. The range includes the Perseus and STE2 monitoring units, the WLD leak detection system, temperature, humidity, current and voltage sensors and the SensDesk portal.
How does leak detection with WLD sensing cable work?
The sensing cable reports conductive liquid anywhere along its length, a few drops are enough to trigger the alarm. It is laid on the floor, under a raised floor or along pipework and connected to a WLD zone input, for example on a WLD2, WLD-ECHO or a Perseus device.
What is the difference between sensing cable type A and type B?
Both detect liquid along their full length and use the same 2-pin locking connector, so they can be combined in one zone. Type B has a smaller diameter, dries faster and can be reinstalled after cleaning. Matching cover strips are available for both types.
Can the devices be integrated into Checkmk, PRTG or Zabbix?
Yes. STE2 and Perseus provide their readings via SNMP, Perseus devices also via Modbus/TCP, MQTT and XML. Alarms go out directly from the device by e-mail, SNMP trap or through an SMS gateway, no portal is required.
Do I need SensDesk?
No, the devices also work standalone. SensDesk pays off with many sites: the portal collects readings centrally, produces graphs and reports and manages devices remotely, as a cloud plan or as a licence for your own server.
