Choosing the right KTR coupling
Determine the coupling type
The choice of coupling follows the application. Torsionally flexible couplings such as ROTEX and Poly-Norm damp shock loads and compensate for shaft misalignment. BoWex gear couplings transmit high torques with a compact design. Safety couplings protect the drive train by limiting torque in the event of overload.
Size, bore and elastomer
The decisive factors are the torque to be transmitted, the shaft diameter and the operating conditions. Pay attention to:
- Frame size matched to the nominal torque
- Bore diameter and fit of the hub (e.g. pilot bored or finish machined)
- Elastomer hardness of the spider depending on damping and temperature
Cooling and hydraulics
For hydraulic systems, oil/water coolers and reservoirs complete the programme. They dissipate the heat generated in operation and keep the oil temperature within the permissible range, which extends the service life of the system.
