Choosing the right Wika pressure instrument

Local indication or electrical signal?

For purely local indication, mechanical pressure gauges are the right choice. If the pressure has to be passed on or monitored, select a contact pressure gauge with switch contacts or a pressure transmitter (DMU series) with an analogue output signal.

Measuring range and accuracy

The measuring range should be chosen so that the operating pressure sits in the middle of the scale. Diaphragm pressure gauges (MSP) are used for low pressures in the millibar range, the fine measuring versions (MSF, MWF) for high accuracy.

Mounting position and design

Vertical - for wall or pipe mounting with a back connection.
Horizontal - for a bottom connection, for example in control panels.
Case size - nominal sizes of 100 mm and 160 mm are common for good readability.

Medium and operating conditions

With vibration or pulsating pressure, glycerine filled safety pressure gauges (GLY) keep the pointer steady and give a long service life. Also mind the material and the process connection to suit the measured medium.
