Festo servo-pneumatic positioning systems combine the force density of pneumatics with controlled positioning at freely selectable intermediate positions. This includes end-position controllers, displacement measuring systems and the associated connecting cables and connectors.
Examples include SPC11-series end-position controllers and MLO-POT displacement measuring systems with various measuring lengths. The section covers the components for controlled position sensing and actuation of servo-pneumatic axes.
Servo-pneumatic positioning systems regulate a pneumatic actuator to freely definable positions instead of only approaching the mechanical end positions. A displacement measuring system records the actual position, the end-position controller compares it with the setpoint and actuates the valve accordingly. In this way, intermediate positions can be approached with the high force density of pneumatics.
