Ball valves and shut-off valves
Electrically actuated PVC-U ball valves from Köly shut off plastic pipework by remote command and open it again. The mounted quarter turn actuator runs on 24-240 V, so one actuator type covers both direct current supply as well as alternating current. The range holds 133 versions from DN 15 up to DN 100, rated PN 16.
Four details govern the choice: nominal size, end connection, sealing elastomer, actuator version. The valve body comes either threaded female or as a solvent socket, while the seals are made of EPDM or FKM. EPDM covers water as well as aqueous fluids, FKM covers oils and oxidising chemicals. Face to face length runs from 80 to 284 mm depending on size and has to match the prepared pipe run.
Pick the actuator by the control concept: standard drive for plain open and close duty, the 140 s version for slow closing against pressure surges, battery return for a defined position on power failure, positioning system for intermediate travel. The end connection follows the installed line: solvent sockets call for PVC-U pipe, threaded bodies call for a matching threaded pipe. Mount plastic bodies free of stress and check the 80 to 284 mm build length against the pipe run beforehand.
Water treatment, cooling water circuits and swimming pool technology, where PVC-U lines have to be closed by remote signal. Also electroplating shops, dosing and neutralisation plants as well as waste water systems carrying acids or alkalis, where metal valves are ruled out. Versions sealed by FKM handle fluids that attack EPDM, and actuators holding a battery return protect plant sections during a power failure.
