About Silencers

Silencers sit on the exhaust port of a valve and cut the noise made by escaping compressed air. The group runs from M5 up to G 2 male and covers operating pressures up to 20 bar.

What matters when choosing

• The thread follows the exhaust port of the valve. M5, parallel threads from G 1/8 to G 2 male and tapered R 1/8 and R 1/4 male are available.
• The damping material sets the design and how easily the part can be cleaned. Sintered bronze is the compact basic version, perforated galvanised steel sheet and perforated sheet with polyester felt discs make up the high performance range, and stainless steel 1.4401 is there for corrosive surroundings.
• The housing is a choice between aluminium, galvanised sheet steel and POM, depending on how much weight and mechanical load the mounting point can take.
• On the small sizes there is a hexagonal version and a slotted one, which comes down to whether a spanner or a screwdriver is used for fitting.
• Operating temperature starts between -20 °C and 5 °C and ends between 70 °C and 600 °C depending on type. For hot exhaust air the figure of the specific item is what decides.
