About Hose fittings and swivel nuts
Hose sleeves and coupling nuts together form a detachable hose connection. The sleeve sits inside the hose while the nut pulls it against the mating thread. The range covers female threads from G 1/8 to G 1 and is rated from 25 to 60 bar working pressure depending on material.
What matters when choosing
- Thread: female threads from G 1/8 to G 1, plus left-hand threads in G 1/4, G 3/8 and G 1/2 for lines where a mix-up has to be ruled out.
- Sleeve and hose size: the sleeve and hose figures have to match. One coupling nut often serves several sleeve sizes, for example I.D. 4, 6 and 9.
- Material: brass CW614N for general use, electroplated nickel-plated brass CW614N where corrosion is a factor, stainless steel 1.4571 for aggressive media.
- Working pressure: the range spans 25 to 60 bar. The figure given applies to the part itself, while the hose sets a further limit on the joint.
- Spanner size: SW and the lengths L1 and L2 are stated and decide whether the joint can still be reached with a spanner in a confined position.
Typical applications
- Connecting compressed air and water hose to pipework and fittings.
- Workshop installations where hoses are disconnected regularly for cleaning or replacement.
- Oil and steam lines in plant engineering, provided the hose material is approved for it.
- Test rigs and laboratory setups, using the stainless steel 1.4571 version.
- Lines with left-hand thread where connections must not be interchanged.
Materials available are brass CW614N, electroplated nickel-plated brass CW614N and stainless steel 1.4571, with a maximum operating temperature of 150 °C. Production comes from Germany, Greece, Italy, Turkey and India.
