About Cutting rings

Cutting and sealing rings are the actual sealing elements inside a compression fitting for plastic tubing. The cutting ring bites into the tube wall while the sealing ring seals against the fitting body. The four sizes suit tubing from 6 to 12 mm outside diameter.

What matters when choosing

• Tube size: outside diameter 6 to 12 mm with inside diameter 4 to 9 mm. Ring and tube have to match exactly, an oversized ring neither cuts nor seals.
• Pressure against temperature: max. 10 bar at 20 °C and max. 1 bar from 170 °C upwards. Always design for the highest operating temperature expected.
• Vacuum: minimum operating pressure is given as -0.9 bar, so the rings also suit vacuum lines.
• Temperature range: -65 °C to 250 °C. This covers applications where elastomer seals no longer survive.
• Materials: the group belongs to the fitting range made from perfluoroalkoxy (PFA), the cutting ring is PEEK and the sealing ring PTFE. All three plastics offer wide chemical resistance.

Perfluoroalkoxy (PFA) offers the same chemical resistance as PTFE but reaches noticeably higher strength values and is suitable for temperatures up to max. 200 °C. The four ring sizes are manufactured in Germany.
