About PUR hoses food contact

Polyurethane hoses approved for food contact carry compressed air and other media wherever the line reaches into the product area. They are approved to EU 10/2011 and supplied in natural colour, so contamination shows up early. The temperature range runs from -40 °C to 85 °C, and the sizes in this group span 4x1 mm to 12x1.5 mm.

What matters when choosing

• Hose inside diameter and wall thickness: the group runs from 4x1 mm to 12x1.5 mm. The two figures belong together, because the permissible pressure follows from clear bore and wall thickness. The outside dimension on its own says nothing about it.
• Max. operating pressure at 23 °C: between 6 and 15 bar depending on size. The smallest bore withstands the most, and the permitted pressure drops noticeably as the inside diameter grows.
• Roll length: 25 m or 50 m. Fixed installations with long runs justify the larger roll, while repairs and prototype work are usually covered by the smaller one.
• Temperature range: -40 °C to 85 °C. The pressure rating refers to 23 °C, so it has to be reduced accordingly at higher temperatures.
• Shore hardness and hose material are listed per item. They govern how tightly the hose can be routed before it kinks.
