The SMC soft start valve of the EAV2/3/4000 and AV2000 to 5000 series slowly fills a pneumatic system with compressed air on switch-on. The gradual pressure build-up prevents sudden actuator movements and thus protects machine and operator.
The category covers metric as well as European versions in sizes 2000 to 5000. The valves can be integrated into the modular maintenance system.
When a system starts up, the soft start valve initially opens only a small cross-section and lets the system pressure rise slowly. Only after a threshold is reached does it switch to full flow. This avoids uncontrolled start-up movements of cylinders and drives, which increases safety and reduces mechanical loads.
