SMC locking cylinders are double-acting compact cylinders with an integrated locking unit that mechanically holds the piston rod in its current position. This keeps a load safely in place during pressure loss or in a de-energised state, for example in stop functions or holding tasks in handling systems.
The C(D)LQ series is designed for direct mounting and available in several bore sizes. The range comprises 24 items with different strokes and mounting variants.
Locking cylinders are used where a position must be held even without applied pressure, for example as stoppers, in clamping and holding fixtures, or to secure position in assembly and handling systems. The mechanical locking unit prevents unintended dropping of the load if pressure is lost.
