SMC safety start valves of the ASS series are soft-start valves that allow the pressure build-up of a pneumatic system to rise slowly at switch-on. Only after a threshold is reached is the full cross-section released, which avoids a sudden start of cylinders.
The series comprises more than 40 items with port sizes from G1/8 to G1, supplemented by matching mounting brackets. Soft-start functions form part of safety-oriented pneumatic concepts according to ISO 4414.
Soft-start valves are used at the inlet of pneumatic circuits to prevent uncontrolled movements after an emergency stop or after compressed air is switched back on. They are often part of air preparation units and safety-oriented circuits.
