About Unidirectional flow control valves

A throttle check valve restricts flow in one direction and lets it pass freely in the other. In pneumatics this is how the piston speed of a cylinder is set. The range works at operating pressures up to 10 bar and covers connections from M5 to G 1/2.

What matters when choosing

• Function: supply air throttling (V) or exhaust air throttling (C). On double-acting cylinders exhaust throttling gives the steadier motion, supply throttling is mainly used on single-acting drives.
• Type of connection: threaded connection, push-in connection or quick-fitting connection. This decides whether the tube is pushed in directly or routed through a fitting.
• Thread: from M5 for small drives through G 1/8 and G 1/4 up to G 3/8 and G 1/2, available as male or female thread.
• Adjustment version: adjustable by slotted screw, by knurled screw, or by knurled screw and screwdriver. The knurled screw allows readjustment without tools.
• Seal and housing: NBR or FPM, with housings in aluminium, anodised aluminium or stainless steel 1.4404. The stainless version is the one for operating temperatures up to 150 °C and for areas exposed to cleaning agents.

Typical applications

• Setting the speed of pneumatic cylinders in handling and assembly equipment.
• Mounting straight onto the valve or the cylinder port where installation space is tight.
• Smooth extension and retraction of clamping, swivel and gripper units.

The specified medium is filtered compressed air, with or without lubrication. If oil is used, lubrication has to be continuous, and seals are supplied in NBR or FPM depending on the version.
