In the hydraulic lines of die casting and forging machines, heavy pressure pulsation hits every disconnect point, and spilled oil or trapped air disturbs the process. The Flat Face Cupla FF works at 35.0 MPa in port sizes Rc 3/8 to Rc 1 and holds spillage per disconnection to between 0.009 mL and 0.110 mL.

  • Working pressure of 35.0 MPa in port sizes 3/8 inch, 1/2 inch, 3/4 inch and 1 inch, made for hydraulic lines with drastic high pressure pulsation such as die casting machines.
  • Airless valve shut-off design, giving spillage per disconnection of only 0.009 mL on FF-3 up to 0.110 mL on FF-8 and air admixture on connection of 0.018 mL to 0.080 mL.
  • Minimum cross-sectional area from 51 mm2 on FF-3 up to 332 mm2 on FF-8, with flow volume 1.5 to 2 times that of the earlier 35 MPa Cupla series from Nitto Kohki.
  • Flat contact faces with a concave offset on the socket that centres the plug for quick connection while the face stays easy to wipe clean.
  • Sleeve stopper design prevents accidental disconnection under vibration or impact.
  • Special steel body with autocatalytic nickel-phosphorus coating and a hexagon nut for easy mounting, a nitrile rubber NBR seal for -20 °C to +80 °C and maximum tightening torque from 40 Nm at 3/8 inch to 250 Nm at 1 inch.

Both halves close on disconnection, so the line contents are retained on both sides.
  • Compared with 350 CUPLA and FLATFACE CUPLA F35, the flow volume is increased 1.5 to 2 times. The increase ratio of each flow volume depends on the CUPLA product size.
  • Airless valve shut-off design minimizes spillage volume on disconnection and admixture volume of air on connection.
  • Suitable for hydraulic lines with drastic high pressure pulsation such as in die-casting machines.
  • Separation prevention mechanism preventing accidental disconnection under vibration or impacts enhances workability and safety.

Choose FLATFACE CUPLA FF when the line carries hydraulic oil at a working pressure of up to 35.0 MPa {357 kgf/cm2}; the sibling series in this category are rated 1.0 to 1.5 MPa {10 to 15 kgf/cm2} and cannot be used at that pressure. Its two-way shut-off closes both socket and plug, whereas HI CUPLA BL, NUT CUPLA, LOCK CUPLA 200, HI CUPLA Two Way Type, PURGE HI CUPLA, PURGE LINE CUPLA, ROTARY LINE CUPLA, ROTARY FULL BLOW LINE CUPLA and ROTARY PLUG shut off on one side only. COMPACT ZEROSPILL CUPLA is the only sibling that also shuts off on both sides, but at 1.0 MPa {10 kgf/cm2}.

Compatibility

Only a socket and plug of the same size can be connected. Connect and disconnect only when the line is free of pressure, never while pressure is applied or remaining. The FF Cupla is not suitable for vacuum applications in either connected or disconnected condition.
