About Push-in plugs
Plug nipples are the fixed half of a quick connect coupling. They are screwed into a thread or fitted to the tube and receive the coupling socket, which then releases without tools. Working pressure in this group reaches 20 bar and the tube versions cover outside diameters from 3 to 14 mm.
What matters when choosing
- Material follows the medium and the surroundings. Nickel-plated brass is the usual pick for compressed air, stainless steel 1.4404 forms the inox line for corrosive media, and plastic is available as the lightweight option.
- Threads come parallel to DIN EN ISO 228-1 as G 1/8 to G 1/2, tapered to ISO 7-1 as R 1/8 to R 1/2 and metric to DIN 13-1 as M5. Tapered threads seal in the thread itself while parallel threads need a separate seal.
- For the tube versions the outside diameter of the tube is what counts, with 3 to 14 mm covered.
- Seal material is NBR or FKM and FPM. The FKM versions carry the higher operating temperature of up to 150 °C, while NBR versions are rated to 80 °C.
- The nipple has to suit the coupling series in use. The range holds inox line, click-clock, Blaue Serie, metallica and NonPlusUltra, and mixing series remains the user's responsibility to verify.
Typical applications
- Compressed air outlets at machines and assembly stations with frequent tool changes
- Connection of hand tools and blow guns to hose lines
- Vacuum circuits and suction grippers, since working pressure extends down to -0.99 bar
- Plant sections carrying corrosive media, which is what the stainless steel 1.4404 version covers
- Lines with neutral gases, liquids, oil or grease where the material is approved for the duty
Materials range from nickel-plated brass through stainless steel 1.4404 to plastic, with NBR or FKM and FPM seals. Threads follow DIN EN ISO 228-1, ISO 7-1 or DIN 13-1, and production is in Italy, Germany, India and China.
