Position sensors continuously detect the piston position of pneumatic cylinders and provide an analogue or digital signal to the controller. Mounted directly in the cylinder sensor slot, they allow position-accurate control instead of plain end-position sensing.
This range covers more than 40 items from the Aventics SM6 series, including the SM6-AL variant. The sensors are designed for various measuring lengths and stroke ranges and connect through standardised plug connectors.
Position sensors are used wherever a pneumatic axis must reach more than two switching positions or hold a variable position, for example in handling, assembly and positioning tasks. They replace several individual end-position switches with one continuous position signal.
