5/3-way air-piloted valve, pressure centre, G 1/4, 850 l/min, pilot port G 1/8 - E.MC

When an actuator has to stop in a defined way rather than just extend and retract, it needs a third switching position. This valve from the E.MC RVA series is switched purely pneumatically through two G 1/8 pilot ports and passes up to 850 l/min at its G 1/4 port with a nominal diameter of 4.8 mm. With no pressure on either pilot port, the spool sits in the centre position. Both working ports are then supplied with pressure. With a through rod the forces balance out, with a single rod the area difference pushes the piston slowly outwards.

Advantages

• Flow rate of 850 l/min at 4.8 mm nominal diameter, enough air for brisk strokes without the valve throttling them.
• Operating pressure of 1.5 to 8 bar with a 12 bar test pressure, and the air does not need to be lubricated.

• Service life of at least 40 million switching cycles, roughly 11,000 operating hours at one cycle per second.

Applications

• Purely pneumatic controls in areas where no electrical wiring is to be installed.
• Gentle follow-up stroke of a single-rod cylinder driven by the area difference.
• Medium-size cylinders with higher air demand where the exhaust should also be led off in G 1/4.
