5/3-way air-piloted valve, pressure centre, G 1/4, 600 l/min, pilot port G 1/8 - E.MC

A 5/3-way valve drives a double-acting cylinder in both directions and decides what happens in the third position. This valve from the E.MC RVA series is switched purely pneumatically through two G 1/8 pilot ports and passes up to 600 l/min at its G 1/4 port with a nominal diameter of 3.9 mm. With no pressure on either pilot port, the spool sits in the centre position. Both working ports are then supplied with pressure. With a through rod the forces balance out, with a single rod the area difference pushes the piston slowly outwards.

Advantages

• Flow rate of 600 l/min at 3.9 mm nominal diameter, enough air for brisk strokes without the valve throttling them.
• Service life of at least 40 million switching cycles, roughly 11,000 operating hours at one cycle per second.
• Pilot pressure of 2 to 8 bar on two G 1/8 ports, so the signal comes from the same air supply as the valve.
• Operating pressure of 1.5 to 8 bar with a 12 bar test pressure, and the air does not need to be lubricated.

Applications

• Medium-size cylinders in fixtures and feeders, piped in G 1/4.
• Through-rod cylinders that should stay pressurised and force-balanced in the centre position.
• Purely pneumatic controls in areas where no electrical wiring is to be installed.
