Hexagon head bolt DIN 931 / ISO 4014, M 6x40, hexagon 10 mm, shank 22 mm, steel 10.9, zinc-plated

When thin sheets and small add-on parts are bolted together, every millimetre of head height counts. This hexagon head bolt M 6x40 to DIN 931 has a head only 4.0 mm high and is tightened across flats of 10 mm. Of the total length of 40 mm, 18 mm carry the thread while the remaining 22 mm form a plain shank. The shank bears against the drilled hole and takes shear loads instead of passing them through the thread flanks. The material is steel of property class 10.9 with an electroplated zinc coating.
