About Pressure gauge fittings
Pressure gauge fittings connect an instrument to the pipework through a cutting ring joint. The group offers female threads from G 1/8 to G 1/2 on the gauge side and tube O.D. 4 to 18 mm on the line side. The fitting takes up the connection and holds it tight, so no sealing work is needed at the gauge itself.
What matters when choosing
- Thread: G 1/8, G 1/4, G 3/8 or G 1/2 female. What counts is the connection stub of the gauge in use, not the pipe size.
- Tube O.D.: 4 to 18 mm. The cutting ring bites onto the outer diameter, so that dimension has to be exact and pipe tolerances should be checked beforehand.
- Material: zinc-plated steel to DIN 2353, nickel-plated brass, or stainless steel 1.4571. Media, pipe material and corrosion load decide, and pipe and fitting should share the same material family.
- Pressure rating: part of the range is specified at max. operating pressure 60 bar, the remaining versions at PN 100 to 630 bar. Design against the value of the individual article.
- Installed size: across-flats dimensions differ with each thread and tube diameter combination, so check wrench access in tight installations.
Typical applications
- Connecting pressure gauges to high pressure hydraulic lines.
- Measuring points in compressed air and oil circuits in machine building.
- Test connections on pumps and power units where a gauge is fitted only temporarily.
- Installations built in stainless tube, where the 1.4571 version avoids a material mismatch.
- Retrofitting or relocating a measuring point during a plant overhaul.
The steel versions are zinc-plated and made to DIN 2353, with nickel-plated brass and stainless steel 1.4571 as alternatives. The 33 articles of this group come from Italy and Germany.
