About Plugs and Caps

Plugs and caps close off unused ports in pipework built from malleable cast iron fittings, either permanently or as a reserve for a later extension. The group covers male threads from R 1/4 to R 3 plus female Rp 1/4 and Rp 3/8. All 39 items belong to the fitting series to DIN EN 10242.

What matters when choosing

• Thread: plugs come with male R threads and screw into a female port, caps have female Rp threads and go over a male end. The point you need to close determines which of the two you order.
• Nominal size: the range runs from R 1/4 to R 3 and has to match the fitting or valve carrying the port.
• Thread standard: ISO 7-1 throughout, which keeps the parts compatible with the rest of the malleable iron programme to the same standard.
• Material: black malleable cast iron B350-10 design symbol A with a hot-dip galvanised surface, suited to mechanically loaded lines.
