5/3-way air-piloted valve, closed centre, G 1/2, 1350 l/min, pilot port G 1/8 - E.MC

A 5/3-way valve drives a double-acting cylinder in both directions and decides what happens in the third position. This valve from the E.MC RVA series is switched purely pneumatically through two G 1/8 pilot ports and passes up to 1350 l/min at its G 1/2 port with a nominal diameter of 6.2 mm. With no pressure on either pilot port, the spool sits in the centre position. All ports are then blocked, so the cylinder stops where the signal drops out, with air trapped in both chambers.

Advantages

• Flow rate of 1350 l/min at 6.2 mm nominal diameter, enough air for brisk strokes without the valve throttling them.
• Valve body and spool in aluminium alloy, POM piston, NBR O-rings.
• Operating pressure of 1.5 to 8 bar with a 12 bar test pressure, and the air does not need to be lubricated.
• Service life of at least 40 million switching cycles, roughly 11,000 operating hours at one cycle per second.
• Pilot pressure of 2 to 8 bar on two G 1/8 ports, so the signal comes from the same air supply as the valve.

Applications

• Large-volume cylinders and rotary actuators that need 1350 l/min at a G 1/2 port.
• Stopping lift cylinders and swivel arms at intermediate positions, for example when positioning workpieces.
• Purely pneumatic controls in areas where no electrical wiring is to be installed.
