About Valve terminals

A valve terminal combines several directional valves, their electrical control and the shared air supply in one assembly. Instead of wiring and tubing every valve separately, one bus cable and one supply line run to the terminal. The valves handle flow rates of 200 to 800 Nl/min at operating pressures up to 10 bar.

What matters when choosing

  • Define the function first. Options include 5/2-way monostable, 5/2-way bistable as an impulse valve, 5/3-way with closed centre, and combinations of 3/2-way NC and 3/2-way NO on one slice.
  • The connection decides how much wiring is involved. Multipole suits manageable terminals with existing parallel wiring, the version with integrated Profibus DP connects to a fieldbus controller.
  • Protection class follows the mounting location. IP 65 for direct mounting on the machine, IP 40 for a protected control cabinet.
  • Flow rate from 200 to 800 Nl/min has to match the volume of the connected actuators and the required cycle time.
  • Where pressure is controlled rather than only switched, the proportional modules cover a control range of 0.05 to 10 bar at a maximum inlet pressure of 10.5 bar.

  • Central valve station for handling and assembly lines with many short cylinder strokes
  • Decentralised control mounted on the machine module in IP 65 to shorten tubing runs and switching times
  • Packaging and filling lines where grippers, slides and suction cups are coordinated over a fieldbus
  • Applications with controlled pressure, for example contact forces set by the proportional modules between 0.05 and 10 bar
  • Systems running vacuum and pressure on one terminal using versions with external pilot air

Housings are made from technopolymer, from painted aluminium or from a combination of both, sealed with NBR. The specified medium is filtered, unlubricated compressed air.
