Signal module for valve island EB 80, 8x M8 digital inputs The EB 80 system supports a wide range of input/output signal modules that can be easily added to fieldbus-connected or additional systems. Installation is simple: just remove the aluminum end plate on the left side of the "Electrical connection with fieldbus - E" module, insert the signal modules with tie rods, and reattach the plate. Each signal module has two parts, ensuring flexibility and easy maintenance: Lower section: universal transmission electronics. Upper section: type-specific and easily replaceable, either with an identical or different module, without removing anything else from the system. The special EB 80 Wireless Module supports both Bluetooth® and Wi-Fi, enabling access to data via the EB 80 I4.0 diagnostics functions. It enhances traditional servicing with advanced analytics for safe, reliable, and long-term operation. Using the dedicated "Metal Work EB80Up" app, the module connects to mobile devices via Bluetooth®. Additionally, it supports Ethernet communication through the MQTT protocol, allowing full network configuration.

About Valve terminals

A valve terminal combines several directional valves, their electrical control and the shared air supply in one assembly. Instead of wiring and tubing every valve separately, one bus cable and one supply line run to the terminal. The valves handle flow rates of 200 to 800 Nl/min at operating pressures up to 10 bar.

What matters when choosing

• Define the function first. Options include 5/2-way monostable, 5/2-way bistable as an impulse valve, 5/3-way with closed centre, and combinations of 3/2-way NC and 3/2-way NO on one slice.
• The connection decides how much wiring is involved. Multipole suits manageable terminals with existing parallel wiring, the version with integrated Profibus DP connects to a fieldbus controller.
• Protection class follows the mounting location. IP 65 for direct mounting on the machine, IP 40 for a protected control cabinet.
• Flow rate from 200 to 800 Nl/min has to match the volume of the connected actuators and the required cycle time.
• Where pressure is controlled rather than only switched, the proportional modules cover a control range of 0.05 to 10 bar at a maximum inlet pressure of 10.5 bar.
