Where a through bolted joint has to carry load over the entire clamping length, the hexagon head screw M 8x12 in plain steel with black finish, property class 10.9 does the work. According to DIN 933 the thread runs almost up to the 5.3 mm high head, the screw measures 12 mm. A wrench of 13 mm is all that assembly takes.
