Where a through bolted joint has to carry load over the entire clamping length, the hexagon head screw M 5x10 in plain steel with black finish, property class 8.8 does the work. According to DIN 933 the thread runs almost up to the 3.5 mm high head, the screw measures 10 mm. A wrench of 8 mm is all that assembly takes.
