About Strainer and spare parts

Strainers hold particles back before they reach valves, pumps or meters. The group covers DN 8 to DN 100 with maximum operating pressures from 16 to 40 bar.

What matters when choosing

  • Housing material follows the medium and the surroundings. Bright brass, nickel-plated brass and gunmetal are intended for water supply, heating, air conditioning and compressed air systems, while stainless steel 1.4401 / 1.4408 and CF8M suit installations that need more corrosion resistance.
  • Nominal width and thread follow the pipework. DN 8 to DN 100 is available with threads from G 1/4 through G 1/2 and G 1 up to G 4, plus Rp 3/8.
  • Maximum operating pressure runs from 16 to 40 bar depending on the version and has to match the design pressure of the pipe system.
  • Sealing is available as an NBR O-ring, an FKM (FPM) O-ring or in PTFE. Medium and temperature decide which of them applies.
  • Operating temperature starts between -25 °C and -10 °C and ends between 110 °C and 180 °C depending on type, with a maximum medium temperature of 180 °C.

Typical applications

  • Protecting control valves, pumps and water meters in building services
  • Heating and air conditioning circuits carrying rust and residues out of the pipework
  • Compressed air systems upstream of sensitive valves and measuring points
  • Cooling water circuits on machine tools and power units
  • Stainless steel process lines where the housing has to match the pipe material

Threads are made to DIN EN ISO 228-1, some of them to tolerance class B. According to the manufacturer the brass-bodied versions are not suitable for steam.
