About Needle valves

A needle valve throttles the flow steplessly by means of a tapered spindle, which allows speeds and flow rates to be set precisely. Unlike a ball valve it is built for regulating, not for shutting off quickly. The range covers nominal sizes from DN 4 to DN 12.

What matters when choosing

• Thread: parallel ports from G 1/8 through G 1/4, G 3/8 and G 1/2 up to G 1 female, plus tapered Rp threads from Rp 1/8 to Rp 1/2 and versions combining Rp female with R male. The existing pipe connection decides.
• DN: 4 to 12 mm. The nominal size sets the flow that can be reached at all, and a valve chosen too small already throttles when fully open.
• Operating pressure: 18 to 40 bar depending on version. The rating has to cover the system pressure with a margin.
• Sealant: NBR or PTFE. PTFE is the choice for higher temperatures and for media that attack NBR, which is also reflected in the operating temperature of -30 °C to 120 °C.
• Design and operation: there are valves for panel mounting and versions for direct installation in the line, operated either by spindle or by handwheel. Only the panel version can be operated from a front plate.

The 30 items have a nickel-plated brass housing and are sealed with NBR or PTFE, the tapered threads follow ISO 7-1. Production is in Italy and Germany.
