About Sockets
Sockets join two line ends via female threads and bridge differing thread sizes without altering the line itself. The range runs from M5 female up to G 2 female, with a maximum working pressure of 20 to 60 bar depending on version. This makes it possible to connect almost any combination of device, fitting and pipework.
What matters when choosing
- Thread size: from M5 female through the common G sizes up to G 2 female. Reducing sockets combine thread 1 and thread 2, for example G 3/4 female to M16x1.5 female, or G 1/2 female to G 1/8 female.
- Thread standard: parallel threads to DIN EN ISO 228-1 seal against a gasket or sealing ring, taper threads to ISO 7-1 seal in the thread itself. The standard therefore decides how the joint is sealed.
- Working pressure: the range is rated at 20 to 60 bar maximum working pressure, individual versions at 60 bar operating pressure. The figure is stated per item and should sit above the highest pressure in the system.
- Material: brass CW614N for standard duty, electroplated nickel-plated brass CW614N where corrosion is a factor, stainless steel 1.4571 for aggressive media and wash-down areas.
- Temperature: maximum operating temperature is given as 150 °C, which also covers steam lines.
Typical applications
- Adapting threads between cylinder, valve and pipework in pneumatic systems
- Extending and joining lines in the workshop compressed air network
- Connecting pressure gauges, sensors and shut-off valves to existing measuring points
- Water, oil and steam lines in machine and plant construction
- Rebuilding existing installations where a component with a different thread has to be replaced
Threads follow DIN EN ISO 228-1 or ISO 7-1. Materials in the group are brass CW614N, electroplated nickel-plated brass CW614N and stainless steel 1.4571, and the 144 items come from production in Germany, Italy, Greece, Turkey and China.
