About Claw couplings
Claw couplings join compressed air hoses with a quarter turn, without tools and without taking the line apart. The range covers DN 7 to DN 25 and is rated for operating pressures up to 16 bar. Connection is either by hose tail for inside diameters of 10 to 50 mm or by thread from G 3/8 to G 1.
What matters when choosing
- Nominal size from DN 7 to DN 25: it sets the flow and should stay uniform across an installation, because only matching sizes will couple.
- Connection type: hose tail for inside diameters of 10 to 50 mm, or threads in G 3/8, G 1/2, G 3/4 and G 1 as male and female versions, plus R 1 male.
- Operating pressure: versions cover 10 to 16 bar. The figure is given per article and applies to the complete joint.
- Material: malleable cast iron, mostly zinc-plated and yellow passivated. That finish is intended for site work and outdoor use.
- Seal: NBR, on part of the range combined with brass. The seal is the wear part and is the first thing to check if a coupling leaks.
Typical applications
- Compressed air supply on construction sites where hoses and tools change often.
- Connecting breakers, rammers and other pneumatic tools.
- Extending hose lines between compressor and point of use.
- Workshop and maintenance work where a coupling with safety collar is required against accidental separation.
- Outdoor use in low temperatures, as the range is specified from -40 °C.
The couplings follow the standard design to DIN 3489, the material is malleable cast iron, mostly zinc-plated and yellow passivated, sealed with NBR. Production is in Germany and Italy.
