About Reducing unions

A reducing coupling joins two cutting ring fittings of different tube size directly, without an additional adapter piece in between. It steps a line down in cross section, for example where a thinner branch runs off a larger main line. The series covers nominal pressures from 160 to 630 bar.

What matters when choosing

• PN: the group runs from 160 to 630 bar, with a large share of the items rated PN max. 315 bar. The rating has to cover the highest pressure in the line, pressure peaks included.
• Socket diameter: the pairing of the two tube outside diameters decides which tubes can be joined, with combinations from 8/6 mm up to 18/12 mm. Both figures have to match the cutting rings already fitted.
• Design: the items in this group are made for the light series. They have to suit the tube and the rest of the fitting system, otherwise the cutting ring will not seal properly.
• Material: all 32 items are galvanised steel to DIN 2353. The material sets corrosion protection and media compatibility and should stay consistent along the whole line.
• Spanner sizes: SW 1, SW 2 and SW 3 grow with the size, with values from 14 to 27. They determine the tool needed for tightening and the clearance required around the fitting.
