Electronic temperature switch, TSD-30, 2 switching outputs PNP, -20 to 80 °C, M12x1, 4-wire, G 1/2, probe length: 100 mm The successful design and the excellent functionality of the WIKA switch family were already confirmed by winning the iF product design award for the model PSD-30 pressure switch. The robust LED display has been designed using 9 mm high characters (the largest possible) and with a slight incline in order to make reading the temperature as easy as possible from a long way off. The use of a 14-segment display ensures a clear display and readability of letters. The 3-key operation makes simple, intuitive menu navigation possible, with no need fo additional assistance. The menu navigation is designed in accordance with the latest VDMA standard. The control keys have been designed as large as possible and are arranged ergonomically to ensure fast and easy adjustments. Operation without any additional assistance is made easier through the tactile feedback. The installation of the model TSD-30 temperature switch can be flexibly adapted to the individual mounting situation. Due to the almost unlimited rotation of the display and case by more than 300°, the display can be adjusted independently of the electrical connection. The display can thus always be aligned to face the operator, and the M12x1 connection positioned to suit the desired cable routing. During development of the WIKA switch family a high value was placed on a robust design and the selection of appropriate materials suited to machine building applications. For this reason the case and the threaded connection of the electrical connector are made from stainless steel. Overwinding or tearing off the connector is therefore virtually impossible.

About Temperature switch

Electronic temperature switches monitor the medium temperature and switch at freely adjustable limits, with no separate transmitter in between. The TSD-30 series has two PNP switching outputs, works in the range -20 to 80 °C and is screwed in via G 1/2. The current reading appears on the LED display on the device itself, with a digit height of 9 mm.

What matters when choosing

• Probe length: 50 mm or 100 mm. The probe should sit in the flow rather than in the boundary layer at the wall, so the length follows from the pipe diameter and the mounting point.
• Output signal: two PNP switching outputs, optionally combined with a 4 - 20 mA analogue signal. If the controller only needs limit values the switching version is enough, while trend evaluation and display in the HMI call for the analogue output.
• IO-Link: some versions come with IO-Link. Parameters can then be set from the controller and readings collected digitally, which shortens device replacement considerably in the event of a fault.
• Electrical connection: M12x1, 4-wire or 5-wire. The number of pins depends on whether the analogue signal is carried alongside the switching outputs.
• Display range and accuracy are listed per item. The monitored limit should sit inside that range with some margin to either end.

The housing is made of CrNi steel 1.4301, the process connection is specified as G 1/2 male and the protection class as IP 65 and IP 67. All 8 versions are manufactured in Germany.
