Back pressure in the return line disturbs the pilot stage as soon as that stage drains through the same channel. Here pilot oil is drawn internally but returned externally, so the pilot stage works against its own unpressurised return. The spool carries symbol J and the valve passes up to 300 l/min across a subplate to ISO 4401-07-07-0-05.

Application

The variant earns its place wherever several valves share one return line that still carries residual pressure. The external pilot return then runs separately to tank without pressure. In power units fitted with a return filter or a cooler this is the usual arrangement.
