5/3-way air-piloted valve, closed centre, G 1/8, 450 l/min, pilot port G 1/8 - E.MC

When an actuator has to stop in a defined way rather than just extend and retract, it needs a third switching position. This valve from the E.MC RVA series is switched purely pneumatically through two G 1/8 pilot ports and passes up to 450 l/min at its G 1/8 port with a nominal diameter of 3.4 mm. With no pressure on either pilot port, the spool sits in the centre position. All ports are then blocked, so the cylinder stops where the signal drops out, with air trapped in both chambers.

Advantages

• Valve body and spool in aluminium alloy, POM piston, NBR O-rings.
• Pilot pressure of 2 to 8 bar on two G 1/8 ports, so the signal comes from the same air supply as the valve.
• Service life of at least 40 million switching cycles, roughly 11,000 operating hours at one cycle per second.
• Operating pressure of 1.5 to 8 bar with a 12 bar test pressure, and the air does not need to be lubricated.

Applications

• Holding the piston position when both control signals drop out at the same time.
• Compact handling assemblies with short tubing runs and small cylinders on G 1/8 ports.
• Purely pneumatic controls in areas where no electrical wiring is to be installed.
